Power, Optical and Chemical Injection Umbilical

JDR engineered, manufactured, tested and delivered three 84.5 metre MV dynamic catenary umbilical cables linking the Penglai FPSO to the Mooring System and two 94.5 metre Composite LV Signal Fibre Optic cables with full termination assemblies, junction boxes and 10 metre flexible Aramid pull in heads.

The Penglai 19-3 oil field is one of China’s largest offshore oil fields is part of the Bohai Phase II development project, located in the Bohai Sea off the north-east coast of China approximately 259 km from Tanggu and 157 km from Dalian.    One of the largest oil fields in China and the largest FPSO hull ever built in China, the Penglai FPSO is due for full-field startup early in the third quarter of 2008.

The Penglai project presented a number of challenges requiring in-house engineering expertise and specialised termination components.

JDR has a proven track record in China with Penglai representing the third such FPSO project delivered for Bohai Bay. In early 2008, JDR won a fourth contract directly from CNOOC for the engineering, design and supply of dynamic umbilical MV cables and composite LV signal fibre optic cables for the BZ 28-2S Offshore Development, also located in Bohai Bay.
