SPECIALIST SERVICE ACTIVITIES FOR OFFSHORE RENEWABLES

AIM Services provide a qualified, systematic repsonse for a range of new and pre-installed subsea power cables for the offshore renewables sector.

Mechanical Capability. Platform and Wind Turbine Hang off assemblies; Cable handling, transpooling, vessel loadout; Installation of cable sealing including emergency abandonment and 3 month abandonment seals; Power cable core preparation; Cable cleating; Sheath repair.

Installation Support. Able to assist with “back deck” cable handling operations during cable laying activities; Pulling Head removal and /or Fitting.

Electrical Capability. Insulation Resistance – used determine the electrical insulation resistance of individual conductors and cable assemblies; Continuity Resistance – used to determine the resistance of a conductor; Time Domain Reflectometer – used to characterize and locate faults in metallic cables; Very Low Frequency AC Testing – used to detect current leakage.

Optical Capability. Optical Time Domain Reflectomer – used to characterize and locate faults in fibre optic cables; Fusion splicing – used to splice fibre optic cores in splice joints or junction boxes; Mechanical Splicing – used during testing; OTDR – used when monitoring cables during factory load outs, offshore deployment and burial or mattressing operations.

Specialist Installation Testing. Post transportation; Post cable laying; Post cable splicing; Final system integration testing; Final system integration testing through customer switchgear.
Testing techniques and methods can be applied at all stages of installation and can also be used to establish faults, suitability of cables for reuse and cable maintenance regimes.

Competence and Equipment. Our Field Service Technicians competencies also include Phisterer and Tyco Medium and High Voltage connectors; Prysmian, Tyco and Raychem High Voltage splicing and Subsea Splice and Emergency Splice.

Health, Safety & Specialist Certification. Field Service Technicians are trained in all aspects of Risk Assessments, Fundamentals of the Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems, Climbing/Access Course for Wind Turbines, Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training Course, including HUET & EBS Approved, UK BOSIET OPITO Approved.
