Navies around the world are using tow cables from JDR to tow their different active or passive sonar systems. JDR's expertise on both cables and specialized strength terminations, in combination with experience in application environments, makes JDR a valuable partner for major naval system suppliers.
Nearly all Towed Array Systems (TAS) for European navies rely on JDR technology. JDR is also a strong partner for development of Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD) systems and Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) systems. Tow cables are designed to combine maximum strength with minimum diameter and weight, meet exacting electrical and data transmission requirements and survive repeated duty cycles over a long period without failure.
Strength members comprise aramid fiber braids/servings or steel wire armor, torque balanced to guarantee minimum rotation under load. Cable assemblies can incorporate twisted pairs, coaxes, quads, and optical fibers and power cores, all custom-designed for specific applications.
