TFKABLE GROUP TO SHOWCASE INNOVATIVE 400 KV CABLE TECHNOLOGY AT MIDDLE EAST ELECTRICITY
: This year the Middle East Electricity (MEE) exhibition, running from 6th-8th March in Dubai, will attract over 700 participants including 100 international speakers. TFKable Group will present its line of halogen-free HV products, fire-retardant flame-x cables and wires, and a group of products dedicated to the mining, oil and gas industries. Additionally, the Group will demonstrate the innovative structure of its 400kV cable capable of transmitting 1400 MVA.
The company has been supplying specialist cable systems to the Middle East and India for the last several years through its sales and service unit in Dubai.
Piotr Mirek, Vice-President in charge of operations for TELE-FONIKA Kable SA, comments: “Due to their interference with infrastructure, 400kV cable systems are often a particular challenge to cable manufacturers. As a result, these systems are offered only by a small group of specialised and technologically-advanced manufacturers. Last year, we joined this group, and initiated a two-year research project at our manufacturing plant in Bydoszcz. This innovative project, carried out under the supervision of the German VDE research and accreditation institute, has allowed TFKable Group to offer a complete 400kV cable system for the transmission of electricity in high-voltage grids. This importantly takes into account the requirements of faultless and safe system operation, as well as environmental aspects.”
Another innovative product, dedicated to the surface mining industry is TFKable Group’s line of reflective mining cables. The reflective cable manufacturing process, carried out in the Kraków manufacturing plant, enables 100 per cent coverage of the external shielding with a special reflective polyurethane compound. This solution replaces reflective tapes covered with transparent polyurethane which, due to harsh working conditions, can often lose their reflective properties, leading to a decrease in the level of visibility and safety. The unique performance characteristics of the reflective mining cables include, resistance to high mechanical tensions, very high elasticity, perfect resistance to abrasion and tearing, high chemical resistance, and limitation of flammability level in accordance with Do IEC 60332-1-2. These properties were tested in TFKable Group’s research labs located in Bydgoszcz and Kraków, where they underwent tensile strength, resistance to tearing and external shielding weight change tests.

Now, our product range includes subsea power supply cables, intervention workover control systems and power and control umbilicals. These products contain insulated power cores, data transmission cables, hydraulic control hoses and steel tubing that is used for monitoring and remote control in offshore oil and gas and renewable infrastructure projects,” Piotr Mirek adds.
