JDR Deliver Critical Infrastructure for the First Offshore Gas Development in over Thirty Years in the Romanian Black Sea
The Midia Gas Development project (MGD project) consists of the Ana and Doina gas fields, located 120 km offshore Romania in the XV Midia Shallow area. This important development has the ability to produce 10% of Romania’s gas requirement during its first phase.
The MGD Project consists of five production wells, one subsea well at the Doina field and four platform wells at Ana field. The Doina well is tied back to the unmanned Ana platform via an 18 km pipeline and a control and communications umbilical.
JDR Cables was awarded a contract by Black Sea Oil & Gas and GSP Offshore to supply a single length, 18km, 7½ksi, multi bore steel tube and electrical communications umbilical connecting the Doina subsea production system to the Ana platform. The umbilical was engineered and manufactured from JDR Cable System’s state-of-the-art facility in Hartlepool, UK.
The project was successfully completed in December 2020 and delivered on a 9.2m (30ft) 215Te reel.
