Nordsee One
New Aluminium Core Inter-Array Cable Design for German Wind Farm Project
JDR has been contracted by Siem Offshore Contractors GmBH to design and manufacture inter-array cables for the Nordsee One offshore wind farm. Nordsee One is part of Germany’s largest offshore wind farm cluster, located some 40 kilometres north of the German island Juist.
JDR will provide a complete package comprising over 70 kilometres of a new aluminium core inter-array cable, cable accessories and post-delivery offshore pre-commissioning services for this strategically important European offshore wind development.
The Nordsee One Offshore Wind farm will have 54 wind turbines set in water depths of up to 34 metres. The development will utilise two JDR designed inter-array cables to collect the power generated: a 240mm2 aluminium conductor cable and an 800mm2 aluminium conductor cable.
Both cables will be XLPE insulated and type tested to IEC 605502-2 and CIGRE standards. The cables will be designed by JDR’s in-house design team and manufactured at JDR’s Hartlepool facility.
