MEERWIND SUD/OST OFFSHORE WIND FARM
Over 110km of Inter-Array Cables and Terminations
The Meerwind Sud/Ost wind farm is JDR’s first offshore wind farm project in Germany. JDR was selected by the wind farm operator WindMW GmbH to provide over 110km of inter-array subsea power cables and associated terminations. Meerwind is approximately 23km north of the Island of Helgoland. The JDR-designed cables and terminations provide the essential links between 80 individual 3.6 megawatt turbine generators with offshore substations to generate 288 megawatts of renewable electricity.
To deliver on this exciting development in the evolution of wind energy generation, JDR utilised its extensive capabilities in subsea power cable design. The Meerwind products were created in JDR’s state-of-the-art cable and umbilical manufacturing facility that is strategically positioned in Hartlepool on the North-East English coast. This facility has been custom-designed to meet the complex demands of multiple offshore projects planned for Europe and other international markets.
