Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Project, USA – 2.6 GW Offshore Wind Power

The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project, set to become the largest offshore wind farm in the United States, will generate 2.6 GW of power, enough to supply approximately 660,000 homes. JDR Cable Systems has been contracted by DEME Offshore to supply and test 66kV subsea inter-array cables that will connect 176 wind turbines and three offshore substations. Installation for this ambitious project is scheduled to begin in 2025, spanning multiple campaigns through 2026. The CVOW project is set to contribute significantly to Virginia’s economy and play a key role in helping the U.S. meet its goal of 30 GW of offshore wind energy by 2030.

IceCube Neutrino Observatory, Antarctica – Custom-Engineered Cables for Extreme Conditions

JDR Cable Systems has secured a landmark contract with Michigan State University for the IceCube Neutrino Observatory upgrade in Antarctica. The observatory, dedicated to studying neutrinos, requires specialized cables designed to withstand extreme conditions, including temperatures as low as -55°C and pressures of up to 45 MPa. JDR will supply terminal cables, storage systems, and breakout points tailored for these harsh environments. The components will be transported in phases from Houston to California, then New Zealand, and finally to Antarctica, where JDR will also provide support for surface-level repairs.

Hail and Ghasha, Abu Dhabi

JDR secured a contract for the supply of Steel Tube Umbilicals for the Hail and Ghasha project in Abu Dhabi, which will be the world’s first gas project with net-zero emissions. The project aims to capture 1.5 million tons of CO₂ annually, storing it underground while producing low-emission hydrogen. It will also utilize low-emission energy derived from nuclear and renewable sources to support the UAE's energy independence. JDR will design and manufacture four subsea umbilicals ranging from 7 km to 48 km in length, comprised of steel tubes, medium voltage electrical cores, and fibre optic cables. The production of these components will take place at the JDR facility in Hartlepool. After completion, the umbilicals will be loaded onto a vessel and shipped to Abu Dhabi for offshore installation. This project is a significant step towards achieving the region’s low-emission goals.

Dai Hung – Phase 3, Block 05-1(a), Offshore Vietnam

The Phase 3 of the Dai Hung project, located in Block 05-1(a) offshore Vietnam, was completed. Phase 3 involved the delivery of a 3 km dynamic subsea power system, connecting the floating production unit (FPU) to the wellhead platform (WHP-D1). The subsea dynamic power cables, equipped with fibre optics, and accessories were manufactured at JDR's Hartlepool facility. After production, the cables were loaded onto drums with a diameter of 9.2 meters and shipped to the installation site. This project plays a crucial role in the energy infrastructure of the region.

EolMed’s Floating Wind Turbines, France – 66kV Dynamic Inter-Array Cables

For the EolMed pre-commercial 30MW floating offshore wind project in the Occitanie region of France, JDR Cable Systems is providing 66kV dynamic inter-array cables to connect three floating wind turbines anchored in 60 meters of water depth. This project will generate approximately 100 million kWh annually, feeding power into the French Electricity Transmission Network. The cables, manufactured and tested at JDR's Hartlepool facility, will be installed by Bourbon Offshore Gaïa. This project supports France's ambition to achieve 40GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050 and represents a significant step in advancing floating wind turbine technology.

Baltic Power

In 2023, JDR signed a contract for the development of the Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Poland. The project involves the design, manufacture, and installation of 340 km of both onshore and subsea cables. Located 23 km off the Polish coast, the farm will cover approximately 130 square kilometers and will feature 76 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW. Once completed in 2026, the farm will generate a total capacity of 1.2 GW, enough to power over 1.5 million households with clean energy. The cables to be produced and installed include 230 kV onshore export cables and inter-array cable components, which will be produced at the Bydgoszcz manufacturing plant. The production and delivery of all subsea cables are scheduled for the end of 2025, contributing to the further development of renewable energy in Poland.

Angola Block 15

JDR produced 13.5 km of specialist Umbilicals for the oil extraction platform at Angola Block 15. This project is part of the ongoing development of the oil extraction sector in Angola, helping to increase oil production in the region.

BEACH ENERGY OTWAY

JDR supplied four subsea production umbilicals, ranging from 400 to 4300 meters in length, for the gas extraction system in the Otway Basin off the coast of Australia. The subsea umbilicals, featuring thermoplastic cables, enabled increased production at the gas facility and provided a new source of gas for Australia's East Coast. The umbilicals were installed through an existing J-tube on the drilling platform, with the second umbilical connecting to the SDU to link the Thylacine North-1 well, located 4 km northwest of the platform. This project supports the growth of the offshore sector in Australia, ensuring the delivery of energy and natural resources.

Moray West

JDR successfully delivered 139 km of 66 kV Array cables, connecting 60 wind turbines at the Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland. With a total capacity of 882 MW, the farm is a significant step in the development of offshore wind energy and helps meet the growing demand for energy in the UK. The project also involved the production of the longest 66 kV cable, a continuous 14.5 km length with a cross-section of 800 mm². The subsea inter-array cables provide a reliable connection between the turbines and offshore substations, enabling the efficient transmission of the 882 MW of energy produced by the farm.

Petrogas Transportation B.V.

JDR delivered 68.5 km of Subsea Production Umbilicals for a gas production platform located 250 km off the coast of the Netherlands. This project was crucial to the development of offshore infrastructure in the region.

EnBW He Dreiht

JDR delivered 100 km of 66 kV Array cables, connecting 64 wind turbines at the EnBW He Dreiht offshore wind farm in Germany. With a capacity of 900 MW, this project is a key part of Germany's renewable energy goals. JDR was selected as the supplier for the inter-array cables, linking the 64 turbines in the North Sea's German exclusive economic zone. Upon its planned commissioning in 2025, the project will be the first to use 15 MW turbines, further advancing and increasing the efficiency of offshore wind energy in the region.

Zuluf AH Crude Increment

JDR delivered two contracts in the Persian Gulf, producing a total of nearly 9 km Subsea Isolation Valve Umbilical’s as part of the Zuluf AH Crude Increment program. This project supports the increase in oil production in the region.
