Manufacturing and Supplying Array Cables and Accessories
Vineyard Wind 1 Offshore Wind Farm
JDR Cable Systems has had the privilege of being involved in a significant renewable energy project by manufacturing and supplying approximately 130 miles of 66 kV inter-array cables for Vineyard Wind 1; the first industrial-scale offshore wind project in the United States. JDR Cable Systems is also responsible for the termination and testing scope. Located off the coast of Massachusetts, Vineyard Wind 1 will generate 800 MW of electricity annually, providing power to over 400,000 homes.
JDR Cable Systems employed advanced manufacturing techniques and state-of-the-art machinery to produce the inter-array cables. The company prioritised quality control measures at every stage of the manufacturing process to ensure the cable’s reliability, durability, and compliance with industry standards.
Through meticulous design, advanced manufacturing processes, and effective project management, JDR Cable Systems delivered high-quality and reliable inter-array cables ahead of schedule, capable of withstanding the challenging offshore environment. Jan De Nul Group executed the first part of the offshore installation campaign in 2023 with its cable-laying vessel Isaac Newton in combination with its multipurpose vessel Adhémar the Saint-Venant that took care of the array cable trenching and CPS stabilisation scope. This project will not only contribute to the development of renewable energy infrastructure, but also propel the United States towards a more sustainable and greener future.
