JDR CABLE SYSTEMS / SUBSEA 7 ANNOUNCE MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH IN HYDRAULIC FLYING LEADS DESIGN

JDR Cable Systems, the industry’s foremost subsea flying lead specialist, in partnership with Subsea 7, has developed and introduced the first hydraulic flying lead that offers the flexibility of a thermoplastic umbilical with the leak-tight reliability of a steel tube umbilical. “This ‘game changing’ design incorporates an all-welded hose-to-coupler interface, eliminating all potential leak-paths”, said Patrick Phelan, Managing Director, Oil and Gas Division, JDR. “It’s a giant step forward in terms of product reliability during deployment, carrying on through the product’s service lifecycle.”
“JDR is now able to offer this vastly improved product as a result of the joint bidding agreement signed with our partners Subsea 7.” Phelan added. “This will mean significant improvements to the safety, reliability and environmental protection for our customers’ installations.”
