JDR to speak at Offshore Cables Forum
: 30 January 2014: JDR, a leading provider of technology connecting the global offshore energy industry, will share its experience in inter-array cable technology development at the 2014 Offshore Cables Forum. The session, to be delivered by Jeremy Featherstone, JDR’s Product Development Director, will include updates on JDR’s latest work in medium and high voltage inter-array cables for next generation offshore wind farms.
The Offshore Cables Forum is the 4th annual event looking at the latest methods for cable installation and for ensuring the reliability and performance of subsea power cables over the life of an offshore wind farm. In his session, Jeremy will talk about 66kV and 33kV inter-array cables, fibre optics for cable monitoring and the latest developments in materials, ratings, dynamic applications and pre-termination. The conference, organised by Wind Power Monthly, takes place in London from 12-14 February.
Jeremy Featherstone is Product Development Director at JDR. Jeremy is a chartered mechanical engineer, and has worked in the subsea cable business for almost 30 years. He started his working life at SMD focussing on the development of subsea cable and pipeline burial equipment before moving to Cable & Wireless Marine (subsequently Global Marine Systems) as first installation manager and then R&D manager on submarine cable installation. He then worked at JDR for four years as a project manager on subsea umbilical projects before working for Centrica Renewables on offshore wind farms and Blue Ocean Projects on cable protection products. He returned to JDR in early 2013 and leads the product development and analysis teams.
