JDR Wins Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade

: 21 April 2014: JDR, a leading provider of technology connecting the global offshore energy industry, is proud to announce it has won a 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. This prestigious award recognises JDR’s success in international oil, gas and renewable energy markets. The 2014 Award is JDR’s second Queen’s Award for Enterprise, having received its first International Trade award in 2010.
Over the last three years JDR has delivered substantial growth through the design, manufacture and delivery of subsea products and services for many of the world’s major energy and subsea equipment suppliers. JDR now exports over 80% of its output – the company’s overseas markets extend from North Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Asia Pacific markets, to West Africa, Middle East and Germany. As a result, JDR’s overseas revenues have increased by 248% since 2010.
JDR’s export success has been achieved by growing business for existing products and services, venturing into new markets, as well as investing in next generation technology development. The company’s subsea production umbilicals, subsea power cables and inter-array cables are enabling JDR to win business with oil and gas customers and enter the emerging market for renewable energy production. Additionally JDR has evolved a full service customer offer, incorporating front-end engineering design, project execution and post-delivery offshore services.
Growth was enabled through continued investment in JDR’s world class manufacturing facility in Hartlepool. This facility, established in 2009, has enabled JDR to extend its global reach. The facility is located on the North-East UK coast, alongside a deepwater port with direct access to international shipping lanes.
Andrew Norman, JDR’s Chief Executive Officer, commented: “On behalf of everyone at JDR, I am delighted to announce our latest Queen’s Award for Enterprise; it’s a proud day for our business. This award is testament to the strategy we established in 2008: to grow JDR by targeting new global markets through investment in our products, technology and infrastructure
“Our umbilical products and technologies are designed to maximise the efficient delivery of power, control and communications in subsea operations as exploration goes further and deeper offshore. We are also taking on the new challenge of delivering high voltage power into harsh subsea environments. In renewables our focus on offshore wind, has seen JDR win business with the UK’s pioneering wind farms and turn this into an export opportunity.”
