Record breaking month for JDR

Houston, TX, USA – 30 September 2011 – JDR Cables Systems LTD.

Leading subsea power cable and umbilical system manufacturer JDR Cable Systems Ltd proudly announced another record breaking month at its state-of-the-art quayside facility in Hartlepool dock on Teeside.

“During September, our team completed and loaded a record amount of umbilical and cable products directly to vessels berthed alongside our facility”, claimed Andrew Norman, CEO. “This significant achievement marks another goal in our strategic growth, consolidating JDR as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of custom-engineered subsea cable and umbilical products.”

Among the load outs were three separate 36kV subsea power cables for Total E&P’s projects in Gabon and China, a total of 58km spooled directly to the installation vessel in only 8 days. Other products included two umbilicals (4.7km Van Gent and 8km Van Nes subsea production umbilicals) for Subsea 7, loaded on reels to their Acergy Falcon vessel for installation on the Medway project in the Dutch sector. A further 8km of subsea power cables for the London Array Offshore Wind Farm project were dispatched from the facility and a 4.3km subsea cable for Fluor was spooled to the vessel from one of the new 9.2m reels installed during the recent expansion.

Andrew continued, “This was a remarkable performance by our employees and our local supply chain. It clearly demonstrates JDR’s capabilities in total global supply of subsea cable and umbilical systems to all offshore energy sectors. We are committed to sustaining this level of performance, strengthening our customer relationships, and adding value to the global subsea market.”

Hartlepool is one of a few facilities in the world designed specifically to manufacture subsea power cables and umbilicals for the oil and gas sector and the offshore renewable energy market. Recent expansion included the installation of a Helical Vertical Lay-up machine and increased capabilities for product spooling – now featuring two 2000 tonne and two 4000 tonne carousels and both 7.2m and 9.2m process drums.
